Does NVDA work with gaming keyboards?

Does NVDA 2019.3 work with gaming keyboards? I had my husband download NVDA onto his desktop and I couldn't get any of the command to work even after I played with the settings. This was with using the desktop along with web pages. Windows 10, Google Chrome, NVDA 2019.3.

If a web page was open I would hit b for button, h for heading, etc, and nothing would happen, it would just sit where the focue/cursor was before I hit the key. When I tryied to open or quite NVDA using keyboard commands nothing at all happend. Very frustrating.

Hi
I do not know about gaming keyboards but if it is a web page you need to be in browse mode for the quick navigation keys to work not in focus mode.
It sounds like you are not in browse mode so there might of be a edit box?
You can change to browse mode with nvda key + space bar.

What makes you think it's the keyboard? Does the keyboard work?

Do you, perhaps, have an antivirus program that might be intercepting the keys? On Thu, Dec 05, 2019 at 08:46:43AM -0800, leochick78@... wrote:

Yes, Gene, I thought of that and tried it with no effect. Tyler, it is my husband's keyboard and it works for him. I am used to using an ancient laptop with JAWS is why I am questioning the keyboard. No special anti-virus. Thanks all, I will keep working on it. |
