Locked thunderbird latest 78 bug

Hi all,
When using latest thunderbird, when an address is autocompleted into to field, there is no way to have it announced. This is a rather significant problem. Has anyone found a solution? The instructions spoken say to use arrow keys, but those do not work. |

I thought someone had proposed the one she'd used. But, you could ask. Someone's got one, even if it's a workaround.

As a general approach, when I hear people saying, "I'm not having a problem," while I am:
1. I do a repair install, if such is available, or download the latest installer and do an install-over install. This will often correct a problem induced by a "burp" during a software update. 2. If Step 1 does not work, then an uninstall of the offending software, a system restart, then a reinstall using the latest installer, which I download before starting the process. In many cases, and Thunderbird is one of those, uninstalling does not remove user settings unless you specify it do so. I'm not sure what problem you are having. When I use autocomplete, that is type something like a name in the field, I can down arrow through the available addresses and they are read. Also, the part of the address is read if I type and then do nothing, that I haven't typed is read when the field is populated with the address. For example, if I type letters autocomplete reads @nytimes.com if I have punctuation set to speak the at sign and just nytimes.com if I have punctuation set not to speak. I want to make sure just what you are discussing.

If I tab once, after using autocomplete and an address is selected, the use left arrow suggestion is given. I have moved from the autocomplete area to the actual address field. I don't know what accounts for your problem. I'm using the latest version, 78.4.0. I'm using the portable version but I'm very doubtful that matters. Gene -----Original Message-----

previously, I was unable to arrow through address or edit it, but I have figured out the solution.

Unfortunately, there does not exist something in Thunderbird that is akin to Add-On Updater in NVDA, that will detect if you are using an older, incompatible version of an extension. You will only need to install this extension once for any instance of Thunderbird you might be using. If you are using JAWS or NVDA, searching for this add on within Thunderbird is quite simple: · Activate the Tools Menu (ALT+T), add-ons option (followed by A) and tab 3 times, at which point you should be on the Extensions Pane. If you happen to land on any other pane then use Down Arrow (or Up Arrow) until you hear Extensions. · Tab 2 times, which lands you in the search all add-ons edit box. · Then type in Quick Folder Key Navigation, hit enter, and wait a few seconds for the search to complete. · Tab 5 times more gain focus on the list of results. Then hit Down Arrow to start navigating the list.
