I NEED HELP BECAUSE I CAN NOT GET THE COMPUTER TO TALK I NEED IT TO START WHEN EVER COMPUTER STARTS I KNOW I INSTALLED THIS BEFORE BUT CAN NOT REMEMBER THE STEPS

You should be asked when installing NVDA for the first time (note: for the first time, not during an upgrade) whether you want it to start with Windows or not.
If you are trying to change NVDA already installed so that it does start either before logging in with Windows, or afterwards if there are multiple users on the machine, open NVDA Settings (NVDA+N,S) and the General pane should be open by default. In that pane are two checkboxes: 1. Start NVDA after I sign-in 2. Use NVDA during sign-in (requires administrator privileges) Presuming you're using a Windows 10 account with admin privileges, check whichever checkbox describes exactly when you want NVDA to start speaking. -- Brian - Windows 10 Pro, 64-Bit, Version 20H2, Build 19042 The depths of denial one can be pushed to by outside forces of disapproval can make you not even recognize yourself to yourself. ~ Brian Vogel

Brian, thanks so much for the instructions. In the choices for when the nvda starts….both were checked. Hummm. We unchecked the second one since we are both using the same account. While that didn’t change anything, we dug further. Finally, I told my husband to try youtube to see if it played music. It did not. Sigh. So we looked around and pressed the down arrow and it started to play. I am not sure what exactly went wrong or who helped or if the computer got tired of dealing with us…but we are back in business. Anyway, so far so good.
My husband has eyes and I have way more knowledge than him and we collaborated for far too long and it was a wonder we are both still sane! I know we must have installed NVDA the first time, but we surely had a better time of it than today’s fiasco. I’m sure all of us know how hopeless it is when you can’t get any feedback and it is impossible to trouble shoot by yourself. It was a chore just to dictate the Email to the list. Thanks again.
