Purchasing vocalizer voices
Joseph Norton
Hi listers:
I see there are at least 2 different companies selling the Vocalizer voices for NVDA, and I wonder if there is any difference between the options out there. For example, there are voices from Tiflotecnia, or CodeFactory. They do the same thing, but, the actual binaries are totally different. Also, the CodeFactory option seems to also include eloquence.
Are there advantages in getting CodeFactory voices, vs. those from Tiflotecnia?

I can only comment on the Vocalizer voices from Code Factory as those are the ones I went with. I did this due to the fact that, as you said, you also receive Eloquence along with the package so you get a lot more bang for your buck, so to speak. I don’t think that the actual compact versions are included with Code Factory’s package but this does not bother me.

I also bought the Code Factory voices. I had never heard of the
other company until after I purchased the Code Factory ones. Now
I'm trying to figure out how to update them.

Hi, The compact voices are not included with codefactory addon, because of the license reasons. The tiflotecnia package uses much older vocalizer libraries and voices, this there are no new languages, and old errors in voices are there.

Hi, As i’ve said, the only advantage is that codefactory updates the voices and driver regularly.

I just purchased the eloquence/vocalizzer add-on for NVDA yesterday. I’ve seen that there a few versions of the add-on, including the sapi voices, but I am only familiar with the code factory add-on.

Hi. Code Factory’s SAPI addons are designed to be used openly with any screen reader or, for that matter, any other software package which supports SAPI5. The last time I checked the Vocalizer and Eloquence Sapi5 voices were two separate packages whereas the addon for NVDA combines Eloquence and Vocalizer.

Good to know. I like having eloquence and vocalizer in one add-on. So many voices to choose from. I think I am glad with my purchase so far.

For me, the CodeFactory voices have a much nicer user interface. You can download the voices from within the add-on. Installation is seamless.

I like being able to install the voices from within the add-on. I think my favorite voice is the female voice called Kate.

I miss working with these! Specailly the Eloquence, but too Angelica, Zoe and others that hope soon they’ll make it to Tiflotecnia! I did run the trial, but it ended, with the Code Factory oices.

The trial ends after a certain number of days. One needs to purchase a license to in order to continue using the voices. I think I saw Zoey in the list of voices but I have not tried it yet.
