[Solved] Synth ring not working
Janet Brandly
Hi Brian, thanks for that info. The real problems happen when I try to use the full-sized keyboard but forget to connect it, LOL. Janet

If you have one of those, but have an external full sized keyboard connected, and wish to use desktop layout instead, all you need to do is tweak your NVDA configuration. If your laptop with "compact keyboard" is not ever being used as an actual laptop when out of wherever you usually use it, and is effectively non-mobile, then if you're using an external full-sized keyboard it's perfectly safe to change your layout to desktop. The problem would come in when you unplug that external keyboard and were to try to use the laptop without it, and forgot to switch back to laptop layout before doing so. -- Brian - Windows 10 Pro, 64-Bit, Version 20H2, Build 19042 Always remember others may hate you but those who hate you don't win unless you hate them. I use the laptop layout on all keyboards, but yes you don’t have to if you don’t’ want to. Just remember what keyboard layout you are in fact using. I am preaching to the choir here btw.

Hello all,
I solved my synth ring problem. I forgot that I still have to use the laptop keyboard layout even though I am using an external full keyboard. Thanks to those of you who responded.

In case you think that because you're using a laptop, you can't use the desktop layout: you can. Even on my laptops I never use the laptop layout. Luke |

Hi
Which synth package are you using? if it uses a add on it might have to be updated to the latest one for it to work with the newer version of nvda? or are you using a alfa copy of nvda?
