It is really up to Code Factory to do something about their add-on, as it is highly unlikely that changes can be made to NVDA to resolve issues at this time (once API is frozen, the chance of it being reverted is small unless really critical issues arise that affects NVDA itself).

Which is why I spent the extra cash on sapi synths.

I know addons are probably a bit better but this is the big issue with changing nvda versions.

My strong view is that Eloquence combines being more pleasant to listen to than other synthesizers at high speeds and being more easily intelligible at high speeds.  I haven’t tried enough of the newer synthesizers to say that no others are, but of the few I’ve heard, none equal Eloquence.  The Eloquence voice isn’t as pleasant sounding as the newer synthesizers generally are, but it doesn’t have unnatural pauses and inflections and it also pronounces more words correctly out of the box than other synthesizers I’ve heard.

If you add the required library to it (I mean the stuff which can't ship with the add-on), you'll have an awesome-sounding Eloquence/IBMTTS engine for NVDA. Then combine it with the following and no engine can match its unrivaled pronunciations: https://github.com/thunderdrop/IBMTTSDictionaries

The add-on itself is perfectly legal as it doesn't ship with the required library or libraries. Adding the required files doesn't entail any cracking whatsoever. In fact, if you happen to use JAWS or the SAPI 4 release of Eloquence which ships with the Kurzweil 1000, you already have the needed files. However, the following add-on does indeed ship the required library, eliminating the need to make further modifications. Just check here: https://github.com/pumper42nickel/eloquence_threshold

the link has the name IBM in it.  That makes me suspicious that this is Via Voice, not Eloquence.  Via Voice sounds like Eloquence and, in my experience, is indistinguishable in sound and performance to Eloquence.  But to keep things accurate, Via Voice was developed by IBM and Eloquence wasn’t.
