This is a serious question, and not meant to be taken as snarky: What need is this addressing?
Since NVDA (and JAWS, for that matter) are PC platform only software, I can't imagine what the benefit of trying to control it from the iOS platform would be. I can't even figure out what the UI for NVDA Remote under iOS would be. Since there seems to be enthusiasm, I ask those who have it to enlighten me. -- Brian - Windows 10, 64-Bit, Version 21H1, Build 19043 I do not understand why some seek to separate a person from their actions. One case I can think of right off the bat is tech support. Let’s say someone has a computer that is not responding or they have a setting that got tweaked. A totally blind person could remote in using a Bluetooth keyboard with the iDevice and troubleshoot the issue.
I’m sure more folks will have better explanations than mine.

Even more important: How likely is it that anyone who would be willing and able to work with NVDA Remote will not have the native PC platform to do it with? As I said, though, I have no skin in this game. I'm just trying to understand the rationale. Software in general is a major investment in time and money, and as a result it usually doesn't get developed unless there is an identified need first. -- Brian - Windows 10, 64-Bit, Version 21H1, Build 19043 I do not understand why some seek to separate a person from their actions. You are posing some very good questions on this topic. I hope the developer of this app will step in and clarify his/her position on why they developed this app.
One thing I can definitely say: The possibilities are endless! Where there’s a will, there’s a way. No pun intended.

And while I have little doubt that there are a great many iPhone and/or iPad (thus, iOS) users who also use NVDA, I doubt that most ever think of those spheres at the same time. That's why I find this whole development odd, to say the least. -- Brian - Windows 10, 64-Bit, Version 21H1, Build 19043 I do not understand why some seek to separate a person from their actions. I believe someone already got something working according to the applevis website. I can’t find the article just now, but a quick search on their forums should do the trick.

the developer might answer for his own reason which maybe has nothing with mine or yours. Check the play store reviews for team viewer you'd find many reasons for why tens of millions using that app to remotely controlling their PC's using android phones. BTW there is an android app does let us use NVDA remote as well. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=im.vortex.narwall&hl=en&gl=US On 5/27/21, William James <wil@...> wrote:

Even those who develop open-source software "just for fun" tend to have started out because something they either wanted or needed did not exist. The sighted community has had for years, the ability to remote in to a work computer, for example, via their smartphone after hours, to quickly do something that can't easily be done directly from the smartphone itself. Until now, there hasn't really been any convenient way for blind users to do this, unless your work was a primarily Linux environment and you could come in through SSH from your phone/tablet. For me at least, this opens quite a few possibilities, depending on exactly how well it works. For example, there are administrative tools for some of my daily tasks, that only work from a Windows browser. Whether in iOS Chrome or Safari, using mobile or requested desktop sites, they simply don't work from iOS. That means that if a customer calls me while I don't have access to a laptop, until now they would just have to wait until I did. If this actually works well, I could now remote into one of my home systems by private server, and remotely fill that need immediately. A situation occurred just yesterday wherein that would have been very helpful indeed. I for one welcome this development. I have needed it enough, that were I an iOS developer, I would have tried it myself a long time ago. Luke |

I don't think of any of the screen reader "remotes" as being the equivalent of a standard remote desktop. Now if it would only spread to android/mac/linux, you could basically run a windows system with nvda and control it from anywhere you want.

Hi
Is this what you are saying part of this idea on apple vis at https://www.applevis.com/forum/ios-ipados/app-concept-nvda-remote-ios
I know there is a friend of mine who uses apple devices and this waswas a question he asked me if he could control nvda on another computer from his device. I said to him at that time I did not think so.

Agreed. I often need to access my computer while on my phone, down stairs to check on something. I’ve been relying on someone in notepad on my machine sending me messages as to how things are going. Now that won’t be necessary, or at least, not as often.
