You know this is interesting on NVDA, sound cards and bluetooth.

I run a I5 4th Gen and a I5 8th Gen with both running onboard realtech audio.have ben for a few years now and never did see any of the problems with sound. i use a lot of bluetooth like Bose headphones, Samsung buds live, viseo sound bar, and SkullCandy headphones.

Nothing not out of the normal of to chaty here and there, but all screen readers do that.

Thank you Gene and Rui. We are trying the ad-on first and so far it seems to be doing what I need. I will read the article when I have a clearer mind. With my memory loss now, I get more tired when it comes to concentration.

Thanks so much.

He provides a link from which to get it.  I haven’t read much of the article for a long time but it appears he briefly discusses how to use it and doesn’t go into a lot of detail.  But that bit is probably enough, though you may have to experiment to see what click in the system tray works well.  In other words, single left click, double click or right click.

If you do a search for Silenzio from the top of the page, you will find the brief discussion.  I’m not sure if you have to repeat the search to get from the first mention of it to the discussion.

I would be willing to try it if someone could tell me how to use it and/or install it. I am not great at technology as many of you on the list who have been so kind in the past to help me, know.

Thanks to the reply I received as to why the lines are missing some
words when down arrowing through them, it made me try disconnecting my
bluetooth speakers and that made the difference. Is there any way to
work around this problem when using a bluetooth speaker or is it a
connection problem that causes it? Just curious. Thanks.

We don’t know if there is a problem that needs to be solved.  there well may not be.  Sometimes, you hear unknown spoken and everything works properly.  Since nothing is specified, such as a problem using some browsers, the question may be asking why unknown is spoken.  If so, I would say to just ignore it.  If you load a web page, hear unknown spoken, and you can move properly in the page, there isn’t a problem, just a behavior that causes no interference with using NVDA.

Hi, Anthony,

Do you know how to runthe com registration tool? I’ve had to do that whenever I heard “unknown”. You’ll find the com registration tool in the NVDA menu under “tools”.

Hope this helps.

Hi

Can somebody explain to me that everytime when the NVDA screen reader is loaded, it keeps announcing the word unknown. Even when I use firefox.

Thanks in advance

Anthony

I am not using a headset and the power is not turning off. The cursor seems to just be missing the word at the beginning of a line. thanks for the suggestion, though.

This has been happening for some time and I cannot remember when it started but hope someone can help if I can explain it clear enough.

There are times when I read line by line with the arrow keys if I am
looking for a particular word or phrase in an article or email. For some
time now, and I think it started happening after the latest update of
NVDA--not the beta one that is being worked on as I have not taken that
one--that when going line by line it misses words at the beginning of a
line. If I do "read all" it does fine but it is only when I am arrowing
down or up in the file. Does anyone have any idea what setting may have
changed? I know sometimes my screen flips direction but that has not
made a difference in the past.

Thanks so much for any ideas you can offer.
