Hi, Just a quck note: if you are updating from beta5, you can do it by pressing insert n, help, and then on check for updates.
Note 2: if you have UAC, press Yes when prompted.
Hopes this helps.

Thanks Afik! yes, as Afik says, if you are updating from Beta 5 (or from Beta 1 or 2), you can do so using the "check for updates" feature. Only if you are updating from Beta 3 or 4 do you have to use the download file from the release announcement (due to the issues with the updating feature in those betas, fixed in Beta 5). Please do test out the RC and let us know of any issues you encounter. Kind regards Quentin. On Fri, Jul 2, 2021 at 7:47 PM Afik Souffir <afik.souffir@...> wrote:

Hi, Afik,
It's better to update from beta 5 to the RC version manually
instead of doing it through "check for updates".

Hi, Quentin,
I just downloaded it manually and it's working great for me so-far.

Well, if anyone has any add-ons that are incompatible, and that are flagged as such, I'd love to know whether you're having the same issue I did when I went to Add-Ons Manager to remove them. I select the incompatible add-on, hit the remove button, and other than all the buttons in Add-Ons manager stippling out (and I realize most readers here cannot see that, but it is an indicator that the process has begun) that's where things stop. I do not get the typical "you've got to restart NVDA" dialog. If I hit Escape afterward it does come up, but not until, and I waited a long time before trying Escape.
I did start a trouble ticket on this, so if anyone else does have this problem, add a comment: https://github.com/nvaccess/nvda/issues/12608 -- Brian - Windows 10, 64-Bit, Version 21H1, Build 19043 I do not understand why some seek to separate a person from their actions. The self is composed of an individual’s thoughts, actions, and expression, which are contained in and actuated by the body. What you do and say is the clearest indicator of who you are. ~ Brian Vogel
