Hi all! I’m suddenly running into some problems with Hulu that they insist on blaming on NVDA. I’ve used nothing but NVDA since I’ve had Hulu and, up to now, I’ve not had a minute’s trouble. The issues I’m encountering have nothing to do with my speech. Screen readers don’t stop playback last time I checked. But, I digress. Forgive my frustration. Lol I also have Philo and I have no trouble with it. I’m looking for accessible alternatives to Hulu. My main concern is that I want my local tv channels. Any help anybody can give me will be greatly appreciated.

Well their is YouTube TV, Sling TV, and ATT TV. Now I can't speak
as far as the web interface to Sling and ATT TV, but YouTube TV
works fine with NVDA. Now if you can't receive your local channels
their is a service called LOCAST which is available in 35 markets
here in the US as of last week. That for now is best used on the
web. They only ask for a $5 monthly donation since they are a

I’ve suddenly started experiencing stoppage of playback at the end of a block of live programming. Instead of continuing to stream the channel’s live content, it just cuts me off. I’ve spoken with several Hulu agents today and the one I chatted with online finally created a ticket for the issue. I’ve done everything but stand on my head. I’m at a loss. I know this shouldn’t be happening and it makes no sense for the agents to blame NVDA, especially since the issue occurs on my chromecast and my android phone too. I’m sure you agree with me when I say it’s easier for someone to lay the blame on something they know nothing about and they know very close to nothing about accessibility. It’s tiring to try to get the jist of what’s going on through their heads once they figure out you use a screen reader. |

Hello, Are there any settings in Hulu for controlling auto-playback? I am not a Hulu user, but this seems very highly unlikely to have anything to do with NVDA. Well, I have a google dish tv smart vu10 that should do everything or a smart vu11. Thoughh to be honest I am contemplating getting an amazon firestick2 or a firecube gen2 to plug into the tv.

The following page might help from off my website at http://www.accessibilitycentral.net/accessible%20on%20demand%20and%20video%20streaming%20services.html When they were tested they were done with nvda.
TVNZ they are 2 lazy to label the graphics for the movie they used to be at one time now they just say in the link new season. To gt around it use the google chrome browser it tells you the steps so you know what the shows are.
The page also tells you if it is accessible from off the phone either android or apple or tv as well.
They all have there qwerks and makes you wonder how they test for accessiblity as in TVNZ on demand.
Any how if there were any qwerks then it would of be mentioned. Things can change like they did with tvnz on demand.
I do not know about other services as I do not use them but if there are other blind people on the list who use other streaming on demand services with a screen reader either on the phone or computer please share how well they work.
This is from the New Zealand side and some of the services to us.
