point to consider with NVDA2021.2 and eSpeak
Josh Kennedy
Well I did some experimenting with NVDA 2021.2 since its Espeak has been updated. I found if I set the voice to English American, the variant to Edward, raise the pitch to around 70, lower the inflection from 75, default, down to 30 or 40, Espeak for me is much more pleasant to listen to. And it is much more understandable at least for me.

Interesting. I like a slightly lower pitch value. That does get things a little closer to sounding like Eloquence though. (grin)

It doesn’t sound anything like Eloquence to be honest.
It is more responsive with NVDA than any flavour of Eloquence, but nowhere near as easy to listen to.
All the best

As we all know, audio of any type comes down to a personal preference.

After using Eloquence for over a decade I reached the point that I couldn't stand it. ESpeak has so many variants one can choose from, that there's bound to be one that makes listening to it more palatable for ones ears. One also has the capability to create ones own variant to ones liking, which many have done. So yes, I choose ESpeak over Eloquence every time. Right now however, I use the Windows OneCore voices. Stay safe, Laz
