must have NVDA add-ons
JinYoun
Hi, I was just curious if there are essential add-ons we should get for NVDA?
What are your must have add-ons for NVDA? Thank you
|
|
Not that I don't think the discussion of various add-ons, and why people like and use them isn't a great one to have, but "must have" is entirely subjective. There are tons of add-ons that are specific to environments that many of us will never operate in/under. Those can be must-have for those who do, but completely irrelevant for those that don't.
This being said, discussion of any and all NVDA Add-Ons is on-topic and pertinent to the group. -- Brian - Windows 10, 64-Bit, Version 21H1, Build 19043 Nothing in all the world is more dangerous than sincere ignorance and conscientious stupidity. ~Martin Luther King, Jr.

Essentials is one, actually the main one I use. Also cod factory’s eloquence, but that one is a nice to have.

Add-On Updater is on my "must have" list. It takes all the guesswork out of keeping any of the "official" add-ons up to date.

Well Firstly addon updater. Thats needed for the addons. The windows essentials is also good to. Next is the addons documentation if you need easy access to it. I also have addon unpacker but thats just so I can make my own for my own use if I need to modify things. I have interactive fiction interpretors which is only good if you play text games.
calibre, goldwave, etc. Dropbox, easy table, again most of these probably are not needed. The emoticons may be need as well as report simbols but depends. Golden curser maybe. zoom, vlc, skype, teamtalk. timezoner and toolbars explorer. Out of those, I could slim that down to vlc, winamp, zoom, windows app essentials etc. On systems I don't use bar for admin addon updater, and windows essentials, report symbols and emoticons are all I have.

Shaun,
Your post is the perfect example of what I said earlier, and that is, what's a "must have" is very often entirely dependent on what you need to do, where, and with what computer(s). It's still good to see what various folks are using, with brief descriptions of why. -- Brian - Windows 10, 64-Bit, Version 21H1, Build 19043 Nothing in all the world is more dangerous than sincere ignorance and conscientious stupidity. ~Martin Luther King, Jr.

As a general rule, for windows 10, its windows essentials, and addon updater. However thats about all I have on the systems I work with. I mean I have the emote and symbols stuff just in case and the rest is well for the user. I'd actually prefer on systems to not have any addons at all especially the ones I don't use often, but windows 10 and up needs essentials and therefore updater. But yeah its really user dependant.

In addition to those mentioned above, I would add the clock addon to my list.. Making the computer speak time automatically to you in a certain interval (30 min in my case) helps keeping you on time. sincerely,

Hi all, My essentials addons are Add-on Updater, OBJPad (specially in some apps of Windows 10 and the scan mode), NVDA Remote, Sound Manager, Windows 10 App Essentials and an addon developed in the Spanish Community, WhatsApp Desktop (I help with the translation of this addon to English). Regards.

Hi, thank you all for sharing your must haves. I'm still learning how to use the pc with NVDA and it is so nice to see the different add-ons people find most useful.
Again, thank you for chiming in on this topic.
