Why does NVDA now announce, "Properties Page Folder," when starting Thunderbird?

Roger Stewart

I've noticed that when I updated Thunderbird to the latest version, that nvda always says "properties file folder" every time I start it up and go to the inbox. It never did this before the update to Thunderbird.  It works fine, but just wondering if there's a way to turn off this useless bit of chatter.

Thanks.

Roger

NVDA actually says "Properties Page Folder"  not file folder.

Hello All,

Please respond to Roger's question regarding NVDA and Thunderbird using this topic, not either of the original two.

Roger, in the future, if you have a correction, please don't spin-off a separate topic, which giving it a different title does.  Just add the addendum by replying to your original message, that keeps everything together.

You can try using the speech dictionary.  But this is just two or three words and probably quickly, in a matter of perhaps two or three days, you will likely get used to it and it won’t bother you any more, nor will it slow you down.  Your screen-reader tells you all sorts of things about structure such as dialog, list, tree view, etc.  You are used to them and they don’t bother you or slow you down.  You do what you intend to do whether speech is occurring or not.  That would be the same in this case when you get used to it.

but if you want to stop the s;peech, I’ll suggest how you might do so.
