Beep for caps and swoosh sound

Marilyn and Don Bilderback

I CAN'T BELIEVE nobody OUT THERE MENTIONED THIS WIDGET WHEN WE WERE ALL
TALKING ABOUT THE WAYS TO BE ALERTED TO CAPITAL LETTERS. Not a word was
mentioned about installing the add on to solve the problem either. I am
guessing it MIGHT HAVE BEEN A PART OF THE Windows app Essentials addon I
recently put on my computer. All of a sudden the click sound came back and
I :
kept wondering why. Today I was just fooling around and opened the recycle
bin. One of the items in there was this
Auto Duck v 3 RC 4.1 Hot Fix
I never heard of this before but it must have been what I needed to use the
beep for capitals when I type.

I am not fond of the new swoosh sound so I did what was said to remove it
from sounding. It did work, but also silenced my clicking that I just
rediscovered! Back to square one and trying not to listen to the swooshing.
All in all, I am super glad to have some sound to tell me about typing
capital letters. I was lost without it. The word caps was just to intrusive
and I couldn't hear what I was typing.

I don't know what the case is regarding the autoducking item and clicks for capital letters, but the autoducking item you are referring to appears not to have anything to do with Windows nor NVDA.  I did a search for Auto Duck v 3 RC 4.1 and found nothing except maybe something related in what looks like software that may be specific to a certain sound card or a third party utility or a third party addition to Windows.

And it is very unlikely that the Windows App essentials add-on would have such a feature.  The purpose of that add-on is to provide support for features in Windows for which support hasn't been added in the core and that don't work well otherwise, not to add features that have nothing to do with this purpose.

I didn't see any reference in the app essentials that mentioned Auto ducking. Then, how did that get on my computer if I didn't do it? As you know, I am pretty new at this computer biz, I don't know where I'd even go to find something like that.

I guess as I did with my screen resolution question...I will just enjoy my clicks and forget everything else. Maybe I have gremlins in my Windows 10?

If you are asking about the autoducking item, I'm calling it that  because I don't know what it is, I don't know.  It may be a Windows update but I didn't find anything with that name when I did a Google search for it.  And I have no idea how it got in the recycle bin.

I'm glad you have a way to efficiently detect capital letters but at this point, I don't know how you got it or how it was restored.  I'm not saying the item you found in the recycle bin had nothing to do with the restoration but I don't think we have enough information to do more than speculate and not put much weight on any possible conclusion that it might be related.
