Locked Adding A City To The Weather Add-On
K0LNY
Hi,
A friend of mine has NVDA and the weather add-on, and he cannot seem to add a city. He went into settings with insert shift control alt W. I'd try it myself to help him, but I don't want to add any cities and have to remove them. Can someone pass along what needs to be done for him to add them? I'll help him with the info I get from here. Thanks. Glenn |

The keystroke you mention is not for adding a city. It Is for setting up a temporary city. This assumes you have saved more than one city in your Weather program and you want to check the weather in another city without changing your default city. To add a city to Weather Plus: 1. Press NVDA + N for the NVDA menu. 2. Choose preferences. 3. Press enter on Weather plus. 4. The default item there is set and manage your cities. Press enter on that. 5. You are placed in an edit field. Type in a city name or city code . 6. Tab once to a test button and press enter. This will search for the city or give you multiple choices if there is more than one. 7. If you find the city, highlight it in the results list and tab to the add city button and press enter. 8. You can then use the tab key to set parameters for the city you have chosen. These settings are check boxes and there are a lot of them. 9. Don't forget to tab to and press OK to save the setting. can't get a upgrade- Why ever not? It's available here: https://addons.nvda-project.org/addons/Weather_Plus.en.html (Stable Version link on that page) One of the presumptions on this group is that the latest versions of NVDA itself and all add-ons will be in use. -- Brian - Windows 10, 64-Bit, Version 21H2, Build 19044 Scratch most feminists and underneath there is a woman who longs to be a sex object. I thought that Tandom® was only available through JAWS, not NVDA. Further, wouldn't you have to have NVDA running to add a city? Wouldn't that mean that both screen readers would have to be running: One to Tandom, and the other being NVDA to get things added? I'd think that would clash pretty epicly. Again, I'm willing to stand corrected. Chris. |

You have to make sure that you have both the latest NVDA and the latest Weather Plus versions before this can really go anywhere. What does Eloquence have to do with anything when it comes to adding an entry. Maybe I'm just an idiot, but I seriously don't follow. That's not trying to be smarth mouthed. I really truly am not following. Chris. |

NVDA 2021.3.5 is still compatible with Windows 7, no issue. The add-on is compatible with Windows 7, no issue. It is up to you to get these up to date. If you need assistance doing that, then ask. But telling us "I can't" means that this discussion is over. And I'm saying that as a moderator here. You must have up to date versions of NVDA and the Weather Plus add-on. And having Windows 7 is no impediment to that. You also need to get yourself off of Windows 7 but that conversation is not germane to the NVDA Group. -- Brian - Windows 10, 64-Bit, Version 21H2, Build 19044 Scratch most feminists and underneath there is a woman who longs to be a sex object. Tandem and remoe are used interchangeably, I've used it for the sighted world. "Can you tandem into my machine and do x y and z? etc." I'm sure oxford has a good explanation. I use that one for my students.
