help with firefox and NVDA

Sarah k Alawami

Have you submitted a suggestion on Firefox's bug tracker? I hear they are ok with fixing issues like this.  I hardly use FF now a days. Have it just in case though.

Good luck.

Yes I do feel that Firefox needs to work on the accessibility of this section, as its not intuitive at all and its so easy to accidentally input something you do not really want to.

You almost need a kind of toolbar for this, or better still a proper menu for these options. Brian

The instances I've had to use object navigation are few and far
between. I have, however, run into three new instances in the last
month, where focus mode needs to be forced on in order to properly
interact with elements. The only time I've had to use object
navigation in the last month was the auto complete form for the
student clearing house which I posted last week. I've tried it in a
couple other settings with not much success, but now that I know a
little more about it, I'll have to try it again in one of those. I've
also run into a situation where using the touchscreen on my computer
like you would on a phone has helped, I'm not sure if object
navigation would replace that functionality or not, that's what I need
to test.

Still, many people may benefit by knowing at least a little about object

It may be that a lot of people, perhaps most, won't be interested in

As I said, depending on how people use a computer, they may not need

Hi
Recommend to use edge web WhatsApp. Use the browse mode while you are
reading the messages. While you are writing the messages you can shift
to focus mode with latest NVDA. And ubgrade latest whatsapp.

I just found out that you don't have to use object navigation to see the UBlock Origin button.  Firefox is properly accessible so if you are on the address bar and tab to save to pocket, you can right arrow through buttons until you get to the UBlock Origin button, which you can navigate with the space bar.

Still, many people may benefit by knowing at least a little about object navigation.

Hello folks,

"Allow microphone
To record Voice Messages, WhatsApp needs access to your computer’s microphone. Click  in the URL bar and set “Use the Microphone” to “Allow.”
OK, GOT IT"

When I hit f6 to go to the URL bar I only find the whatsapp web address, but no buttons to adjust the setttings for my microphone there. What is the NVDA command to reach to this area when I get such a message on firefox?

I hope those who use firefox and NVDA can help me with this one.

Thanks a million Bob. This solved the problem when nothing else worked.

I truly appreciate it.

I'm giving desktop commands.  I don't know the laptop ones.

To move forward by object, the command is numpad insert numpad 6.  To move back by object, the command is numpad insert numpad 4.  Try moving a number of times in both directions.

If you find the button, use the command numpad insert numpad enter to see if you can activate it in that way.  Numpad enter is the long key on the right row of the numpad at the bottom of the numpad.  There are two long keys and enter is the bottom one.  Plus is the long key above it.

The reason is that you are not in a web page, you are in the address bar.  Therefore, you are not in browse mode and quick navigation commands won't work.  If you type a letter, you will remove the address from the address bar and the letter b will be there.  When you are on highlighted text and type something, the highlighted text is removed and replaced by what you have typed.
