help with the volume mixer on windows 10

Hi all,
For some weird reason I’m having issues with the volume mixer on windows 10.
Am trying to change the soundcard for 1 particular application and I just can’t seem to do it. I do have win 10 app essential’s installed and enabled.
Any ideas please?

How are you opening the volume control and is the application
running and playing audio when you look for the control?

In addition to what I said in my previous message, it appears you
don't have to have the audio playing. It does appear that you have
to have played at least a bit of audio in the application and then
left it opened. Open the application, play a bit of audio, then
stop it if you wish.

I type sound mixer to get it from the start menu. When I open it
I tab to applications list and select the one I want. Then tab
twice past the mute button to adjust the output volume slider.
There are 2 sound settings apps, the sound and the volume mixer.
Sound doesn't have settings for individual apps, but it has
properties to adjust things with the mic, like effects and the

Actually not all apps will appear there for what ever reason but I do see them in the sound mixer. I really nave no clue as to why but both work dependinging on what you need to do.

If you type sndvol in the run dialog or in the Windows start menu and press enter, the volume control will open. Butg when I type sndvol yes I can change the volumes of individual apps but I can’t change the soundcard. There is a button that used to work next to the volume of each app that you used to be able to hit spacebar on and you could change the sound in there but for some reason it’s not coming up. If I press enter on it then it just shuts the app.

Well when I get into the volume mixer itself I can see each app yes but what the problem is that the button you hit to change soundcards for each app doesn’t want to work. I’ve tried spacebar, does nothing. Enter simply closes it. I’ve even tried routing the mouse and doing an numpad insert enter on it. Also tried a left click with the numpad again doesn’t work.

Good morning, Is there an alt and a letter key to use with it. I seen this in media player where you hae to use the alt and the k to open the button as space and enter do not work. Just a thought

I've never seen such buttons in the Windows volume control, that
which is accessed by sndvol.

Change via the split button. There is a tool bar you can interact with. That will change the whole system. You can also do this via the game bar’s sound panel, and via sound mixer

I ponder if they're trying to change the device the app's audio is going through?
They CanNot Do That From The Volume Applit. You Must Go to: Settings (fastest way is Windows+I) highlight and Space/Enter on these categories: System Sound tab/shift+tab to the App Volume and Advanced Preferences link and activate it. (Shift+Tab will be faster because this link is towards the end of the page, not the beginning). Once here, a list of all apps that are playing/or recently played audio appear. Tab a few times to that list, arrow down to the offender you'd like to change, tap Space/Enter to open its section, tab over to the Output Device droplist and choose the new destination you'd like to use. If you're looking for a quick volume adjustment of an overall destination's master volume
(or individual app), use the SndVol command in the Run dialog box. See Settings System Sound App Volume and Advanced Preferences to specifically delegate how audio is routed on your system. Jason Bratcher |

Per Win11, That's changed to System in the first list Space/Enter then in the second tabbed-to list, tap Sound Space/Enter shift+tab to a More button in the Volume mixer App volume mix, app input & output devices group and activate it. This setting is located not in Volume Mixer, you mist go to sound settings in Settings appin Win10, and then find something like "App volume and device preferences@, in this window you will have a list of currently running apps for which you can individually set input and output device and set corresponding sound level. Yes, you need to play some sound using desired app and keep it running before doing this operation. Also, there can be a difference where to find this settings in different builds of Win10.
