Attending a meeting using Microsoft Teams

Janet Brandly

Hello,

Would someone out there please give me a few tips on how to go about attending a meeting using Microsoft Teams? I looked through the application specific section of the manual and didn’t find anything. There seems to be a lot of info online about this but I’m really just looking for the basics. You will save me a lot of time.

Thanks in advance,

Janet

Not much to do, simply click the link given, sign in if needed, or enter as guest, type your name, follow the prompts and keep an eye on the tool bar. I don’t  recall the keys as I don’t ue them, but teams has got to be one of the easier meeting apps to use apart from google meets.  I attend meetings for our local CAP using teams and it’s quite easy to use. Speaking of which I need to get teams set up for a meeting in 2 weeks.

Janet,

The other thing to remember is when in a team meeting, if you get NVDA speaking through the same soundcard, some kind of audio ducking may take place. I get this a lot with my work laptop’s soundcard. I suspect nvda trigger’s the noise cancelling feature of the internal microphone therefore teams goes quitter.

My answer is to use a USB headset where I can hear teams and nvda.

I suspect is true for any audio meeting application.

The other option I am exploring is to use Braille.

I actually don’t have that issue, I’m using a usb headset for  teams and for nvda both running through the same card, but yeah maybe my card is better than my internal. Good to know though.

Yes always use phones for any meetings with audio, since it will muck up the programs attempt to figure out who hears what. I tend to use some over ear phones and a tie clip mike, but then I have the camera off.
