Slow Response When Arrowing Around in Word 365 with Windows 10

Jujube

Hi everyone, it seems that whenever I use Word 365 with the latest version of NVDA, responsiveness is a bit slow when navigating through a document e.g pressing the arrow keys to go up or down a line. This seems to occur no matter what UIA setting I'm using and I'm on Windows 10. I'm pretty sure this has been an issue for me since like NVDA 2022.1 but I don't fully remember anymore. Does anyone else experience this issue? Thanks for any insight.

Whenever inexplicable issues present themselves “out of the blue” and with seemingly no reason, I always try "repair installs" or repair utilities, and the ordering depends on what I suspect is the most likely culprit.

In a case like this, my order would be:
1.
Using DISM (Deployment Imaging Servicing and Management) and SFC (System File Checker) to Repair Windows 8.1, 10 & 11.  This allows you to rule out quite a few potential issues with Windows itself with very minimal effort, and not too terribly much time involved.

2. Following The Most Basic Troubleshooting Steps for Suspected NVDA Issues.  This lets you rule out add-ons, among a couple of other things.

3. Uninstalling NVDA completely and reinstalling it.

4. Repairing Office:  Repair a Microsoft 365 application - support.microsoft.com

One also might wish to investigate if anything else is running in the machine taking up resources. I've noticed that for some reason, Office products do seem to be very sensitive to background tasks.
