Can we know the color of text in notepad++?

bering.p

Hi,
I use Notepad++ and the DSpellCheck plugin to find spelling mistakes.
Faults are marked in red, but NVDA does not indicate the color.
Is there any way or particular NVDA configuration that will allow this?

Thanks.
Best regards.

If you toggle on the settings, document formatting, colours checkbox, does that make a difference?

Not sure if it would work in notepad++ at all, but, for example, in a webpage it will then announce colour changes in text content.

I just tried adding the DSpellCheck plug-in to NotePad++ (I'm not sure if there are others?  That was the one I found when I searched for plugins with "spell").  While with some tweaking I could get it to display the red underline, I couldn't get NVDA to report it.  I would assume that it is implemented in a way which is not accessibl - much like say Grammarly does.

You will likely need to petition the plugin or NotePad++ people to improve the accessibility of the plugin.

The homepage listed for the plugin is https://github.com/Predelnik/DSpellCheck

Looking at their issues I found two mentioning NVDA: https://github.com/Predelnik/DSpellCheck/issues?q=is%3Aissue+is%3Aopen+nvda

Reading the first one, it looks like the developer has looked into it, and it will need some work from the NotePad++ side.

Kind regards

Quentin.

No Notepadd ++ uses a bespoke edit field, a bit like other older software does.
