Hi! You need to press space on "Application Message list" to get into it. Unfortunately, WhatsApp web/desktop now is less comfortable to use with screenreaders because of lost ability to select text and other issues. I tried to describe this issue to WA support, but they said that solving this problem is not part of their responsibilities.

hi, i always got confused because whatsapp updates have bad effects on accessibility. about this issue, I noticed that in focus mode everything works properly, but I still need to navigate in browse mode, thanks On Tue, Nov 15, 2022 at 5:30 PM <darkmad88@...> wrote: Hi! I have very recently started using the MS Store version of WhatsApp with the WhtsApp+ NVDA addon which is available from the Spanish community site. It all works really well together. No problem with copying text or the like. Actually, I have not encountered any issues using it. I recommend you give this a try.
Kind regards

Well that is debatable, they do have a duty to report accessibility changes as it is going to affect quite a lot of users.

I prefer the same but whatsapp every time is a disaster.
I think NVDA should be able to work on this to try to improve it, because for whatsapp it seems that disabled people don't exist for them.
In short, the people of WhatsApp are nefarious. |

Actually, I can use what’s app on ms store with no issues. I don’t need to press space, as far as I’ve found I just need to go into focus mode, write, tabb and shift tab between controls, get out of focus mode, send my attachments etc. It all works, only thing missing are the speed controls, unless they added those in an update and I missed it.

And you think I didn't send a message to the support service? do not make me laugh. I know you have to press space to get into the message list, but it's not accessible enough either. please read my post before replying as i mentioned all this. |

They fixed my iOs issues, and they really did make the store version a lot easier to use, maybe you did not get that build as of yet, wait a few months, it will come to you soon enough, and hopefully you will like it.

I hate using the windows store, I need someone to fix this problem ASAP.

Email them and advocate. Your problem won’t be fixed otherwise. If you don’t want to learn how to use the store, you won’t get the new what’s app that actually works well, so pick your poison.

Goodness, man, it is as simple as typing "whatsapp" in MS Store,
pressing Enter on the button to download and in stall it and
you're done. That version of WhatsApp works beautifully with NVDA,
no accessibility issues, no need even for browse mode. I prefer it
to the phone version. Technology evolves. Open your mind; you
cannot remain stuck in the past, especially not if there are good
and accessible new alternatives. You don't need someone to fix the
problem for you ASAP; you can do it yourself.

The Microsoft Store is a Metro App, not a traditional web site.

I haven't needed to use it so I just looked at it and played with it somewhat. I'll probably play with it some more but in order to use it well and understand what you are doing, you may well need some instruction. Here is a discussion of how to use it. http://accessibilitycentral.net/How%20to%20use%20the%20Windows%2010%20store%20with%20the%20NVDA%20screen%20reader.html Gene On 11/17/2022 1:22 AM, Christo de Klerk

I've played with the Microsoft Store app for awhile and on my
machine, it doesn't appear to match the description of how to use it
in the page I linked to. I'm puzzled about how to use it.

This should probably be moved to the chat list but discussing how to use it might be useful to a lot of people. Gene On 11/17/2022 5:05 AM, Gene via

If you want it, you'll do it; if you don't, you won't I've posted the following before, and it sure applies here: It is impossible to help individuals who will not listen to advice unless they like that advice. Being a good assistant is not about making the person assisted "feel good," but about both asking the right (and sometimes hard) questions as well as giving the information necessary to achieve the desired result. Getting help is a two-way street, and those asking for help have work they must do, too, when asked. They also need to be ready to let go of what they'd like to do and instead do what's been asked for by the person offering assistance. Those receiving assistance are entitled to ask for clarification as well as free to reject advice. If you don’t wish to do what your assistant is asking, then state that so that you can both can move along. Assistants have every right to assist as they see fit, and those being assisted to either follow or reject the option(s) presented. An assistant is within their rights to withdraw support at any time, for any reason. --It used to be understood that if you published and profited from a mass media platform you should also be responsible for its content. That idea is nowadays considered quaintly archaic. There is no real accountability, and almost limitless ability to post any kind of ridiculous and scurrilous nonsense. Okay, so how do you use it on a computer? I have a desktop. I guess I need a microphone. So, how do I install that? I have a microphone jack, so, of course, I would plug it in? But then, what else do I have to do? Pam.

I don’t use it for talk, I only use what’s app for text at least on the computer side of things. It’s so much easier for me to keyboard than to talk most times. Start by tabbing around and using up and down arrows, etc. I know there are keys however I’m not sure if they changed. Good luck.

Hi
The following tutorial is for the desk top version of whats app. Not sure if they integrated so you can use a mic yet? as the tutorial was written when it first appeared.
I can in the next day or so see if it is there and can be enabled? I just can not remember if I was able to then?
t probably needs editing and can not remember if it went to the website or not it is for the web/app version of the program.
The drop box link so you can get it is https://www.dropbox.com/s/9ceilrdfdbf4bkd/Using%20WhatsApp%20with%20nvda.txt?dl=1 I use it on my mobile phone now and talk to people with voice that way as the phone is always with me.
hope it helps.
I just tried the version with windows 10 from the store but could nto get past the first screen. I am guessing you have to also scan in first before it gives access to it.
