accessible audible converter

Ame

Hi all!  I’ve been sniffing around for a good audible book converter and I thought I’d found a couple but neither suits me.  I tried VI Wizard but you can’t convert  a book to anything but m4A or m4B and keep chapter divisions.  Audiamus only gives you choices of mp3 or m4A.  I’ve asked for tech support and got the answers I needed but they weren’t the ones I wanted.  Lol Does anybody know if there’s a free option  that will allow you to convert your aa or aax files to flac?  I know you can do wave but even flac can give you more quality than the original formatting.  Sorry, I’m an incurable audio snob.  Lol Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.

Can’t speak to it on Windows, but OpenAudible is pretty nice, and it’s cheap at only $20 when I bought it:

Oh thanks Buddy!  Can you convert the files into higher fidelity formats like wav or flac and still have it divided into chapters?  That’s what I really want if I can help it.

What is the status of Switch audio converter these days. It may of course only end up with mp3s, but I guess you could use a very high bit rate?

I'm assuming thes books are protected by DRM, Unless you can get around that often you are stuck with the native player.
I seldom use Audible since they seem to over complicate everything.

Switch won't convert Audible files, which are proprietary.

No, it's not, at least not as initially stated.   Questions about what software in a given class is accessible with NVDA are entirely on-topic.  As we all know, there is often software for a given purpose that's great if you're sighted, but an accessibility nightmare.

Discussing the mechanics of using that software, which is about that software, not NVDA, is not.  The Chat Subgroup should be used for hot and heavy discussions regarding the how-tos of a specific piece of software.

Ok

I know of 2 audible converters.

Inaudible is accessible with nvda and it is free..

I use it about once a month.  Basicly I convert books to mp3 files and chapterize them.  You can convert to many other formats.  The set up page for the program is quite extensive.

Open Audible is more features  for downloading, organizing and converting your audible library.

I have  not useb it, but I know screenreaderusers who do.  I think it costs about 20 or 30  bucks.
