NVDA And Instructions

Hello NVDA,
I belong to a forum for writers, Jericho Writers, and want to send an
attachment for review within a post.
The form fields include 'attach document' but when pressing enter,
nothing changes.
Per the instructions below, I am stumped. Initially these were sent as
a screen shot, which I could not read at all.
These were graciously typed in the email.
Where do I go from here?

1. Click on "Share something with the group" on a group / "New
discussion" on a forum homepage / "Reply" on an existing forum post. A
new box will show on your screen.
Note: I understand this, and can do successfully. I hear a click that
opens a form field.
2. Click on the paperclip icon near the bottom of the box
3. The box will now have a new grey section, with a larger paperclip
icon and text reading "Add Files"
Note: In the past, I found this by using the forward tab, it's just
before the tab to post.
4. Click on "Add Files", and select your document
Note: Therein lies the issue. It doesn't work if done using tab.
5. The document will now show as being uploaded as a square tile at
the bottom of the box. You can continue adding more files if you wish,
add your message to the post if you haven't already, and then click
"Post".

What does it doesn't work using tab mean?  Are you saying you don't land on what is being described or does it mean something else such as you can cause it to take an action?

Have you tried tabbing to the item with browse mode off?  At times, you can see something you don't see when it is on.  Or have you tried the reverse/  If you have been staying in focus mode, have you switched to browse mode and looked for the item by tabbing or using the down arrow?  At times you see something in browse mode you don't see in focus mode.  You should try the opposite of what you have done in such cases.
