NVDA not reading pdf documents in Adobe Acrobat anymore

lutztiger.luigi@...

Dear List,

NVDA stopped working properly with Adobe Acrobat recently. The dialogue of in what way to read the opened up document still pops up (so Adobe Acrobat apparently detects my screen reader), but after selecting whatever no contents is shown. I have tried reading documents that have worked recently, but now there is no visible content anymore.

I am on the current stable NVDA version and also on the latest Adobe Acrobat (according to their update dialogue).

Anything I can try to fix this?

Have you first tried rebooting the computer? Maybe something broke and a restart, an actgual restart will fix itg.

Good luck.

I've seen this happen on Windows 7, did the person say what version of windows it was?
The answer as I found out was to downdate.. However to me these days reading pdfs seems more responsive and better in Microsoft Edge for some reason.

Using Edge for simple PDF documents works well and it opens documents much faster than the accessibility feature in Adobe if you are opening an entire large document or large sections of a document.  But it doesn't recognize tables, at least in terms of a screen-reader being able to work with them.  It also can't be used to fill out PDF documents.
