Issues installing voice packages for OneCore voices, and best voice options?
Leona,
You're quite welcome. I say to anyone having issues with Windows 10/11 Enterprise or Educational that you are very unlikely to be able to solve those issues yourself. The whole point of both of these editions of Windows is centralized control by the IT department of the organization involved. And, in the vast majority of cases, those organizations have an iron grip on those machines that allows the end user very, very little latitude whatsoever. Many, however, will be willing to work with you about making certain changes, especially if those are in relation to accessibility and even more so if they're related to things that can be added into Windows with Microsoft as the source. There seems to be a lot less fear of, for example, OneCore language packs than there is of third party software of various sorts. So if you are someone who's got a machine with Windows 10/11 Enterprise or Educational, plan on getting to know your IT folks as far as getting the tweaks you need. -- Brian - Virginia, USA - Windows 10, 64-Bit, Version 22H2, Build 19045; Office 2016, Version 16.0.15726.20188, 32-bit "Be Yourself" is the worst advice you can give to some people. ~ Tom Masson |

Thanks for the response Brian!
I raised a ticket with IT and they were able to resolve the issue :) Wouldn't have even thought about the permissions being a factor but that was a great shout. |

You indicate that you are on Windows 10 Enterprise, and Build 19042 means Version 20H2. Is there any intent in your organization to update beyond Version 20H2 in the foreseeable future?
Also, your issues could very well be because those who control things centrally for Windows 10 Enterprise in your organization do not allow the installation of additional language packs. When it comes to Windows 10 Enterprise, for the most part, it's up to the IT department what it allows end users to do (which is usually very little) and what can and cannot be installed. It's worth reaching out to them. -- Brian - Virginia, USA - Windows 10, 64-Bit, Version 22H2, Build 19045; Office 2016, Version 16.0.15726.20188, 32-bit "Be Yourself" is the worst advice you can give to some people. ~ Tom Masson |

PC: Windows 10 Enterprise, OS Build: 19042.2251, Processor: 11th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-1135G7 @ 2.40GHz 2.42 GHz NVDA v2022.3.2
Hey, has anyone had issues previously with installing additional voices/languages in the Windows speech settings to use with the OneCore synthesizer option? I haven't used NVDA with different languages very much, but found OneCore and the installed Chinese voices very clear. Do you also use OneCore and additional installed languages, or have you found a good voice/variant to use with eSpeak NG? I personally find that one really hard to understand. Thanks!
