Running Windows on Mac with VDI, cannot assign NVDA key on Windows OR Mac keyboard

Hi there, I work on a Mac and need NVDA for testing. My IT dept set me up with a VDI to run Windows and download NVDA. I did this and it works, however, I was unable to use the Mac keyboard with caps lock as the NVDA key so I purchased a Windows keyboard. The keyboard does work, however, the Insert key does not work as the NVDA key this way either. I have been Googling for a couple days and cannot find a solution to this problem. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

You need shartp keys.  Download sharpkeys  then map the capslock to insert.

Thanks for the response, however, I am only trying to use the Insert key on the Windows keyboard. Is that not possible?

Also, when you say to use sharpkeys are you talking about using it for the Mac keyboard or the Windows keyboard?

Thanks again!

Sharpkeys is only for windows,  so remap the key you want for insert and that might help. I’m not familiar with the vm you are trying to use, so I have no way if this is even doable from within settings of the vm.

As sarah says

Download sharpkeys from the windows vm

And remap the insert / capslock key

I am running Citrix for Azure VDI. I realize that sharpkeys runs on windows, however, I am wondering if the suggestion is to use sharpkeys to modify the Mac keyboard or the Windows keyboard? Neither of them are working properly with NVDA currently.

You modify the windows side of things, everything will be on the windows side of things in this case.
