Chat NVDA and key echo
Chris Shook
Hey, just curious, How many people use word echo and key echo?
If you're wearing wireless headphones, word echo is not that useful. Key echo or no echo is better. Chris |

I don’t use anything. I only have it talk when I want it to. I hate all this speech, so echoing words and leter and all would drive menuts! Pam.

I've been trying to get into writing, so I turned word echo back on for a while. It's more distracting than anything else and I think it slows me down.

I have key echo enabled. I like the confirmation and am not comfortable

That depends on latency though. I use key echo normally as I'm such a rubbish typist. Its like having ear plugs in for me if I cannot hear the letters. I find word echo annoying, since its a bit like when auto results come up as you search for things. That is mega irritating as well.

I tend to use either or. I will almost always use both echoes when using the command line or programming as well as whenever I tend to type really fast and get horrible typing mistakes all over the place. Those of you who write scripts/use the command line will know exactly what I mean because sometimes depending on what you're doing on the command line you could have executed the wrong action if whatever it was you typed was not your intent. On different occasions I may use no echo at all. It really depends on the situation and circumstance though, so even everything I say here may not be true at times.
