You don't need Dancing Dots at all. Just learn abc notation: https://netabc.sourceforge.io/

Dancing Dots is still around, and it’s continuously getting updates and improving lots of features such as music XML recognition. IES this program myself and it works pretty smoothly. However, it works mostly with Jaws, because of the scripts s. It has some features that works with narrator or sappy four voices. However, I have noticed that they are not as accurate as Jawz. Goodfield sweet is a soft word that you have to pay for, it is $1595vUS. You may want to take a look at their website:
www.dancingdots.com
There is another free software called MuseScore. I’ve never use it though, but for from what I’ve heard it works very good with NVDA. As I said before, I have never tried it, but I have friends that work with this software on a daily basis and they say it works pretty well. You can try it out and see how it goes. The last thing I would like to add, is that since Goodfield is a software designed for blind people, the response and some features are much better and much advanced that other Open source software. If you need more help or would like to get further information, don’t hesitate to ask.

It is a music composition piece of software.
However, I am not familiar at all with using it.
I am assuming it is still around.
Thanks and good luck,

There is also muse score, which I used to write an arrangement of oh come Emanual. I need to actually rewrite it as stupid me forgot to back it up. I want to get this down before it goes away due to a brain disability I have. It is accedssible with nvda and the forums are very wonderful.
