Does Nvda I have a search function where you can find particular settings or features by typing in a word

Good morning,
In iOS settings there is a search feature where you can put in a keyword and it will bring up all the settings related to that word including VoiceOver settings as well.
Does NVDA have something similar, something like the opposite of the input gestures dialogue where instead of pressing the key combination and the screen reader telling you what it does, you can search for particular settings yourself and the screen reader will let you know how to do it.
The reason I ask is because oftentimes, I accidentally change the setting but then don’t know how to change it back again. For example, at the moment NVDA is just reading out every line number and I’m sure there’s a solution somewhere in one of the menus but I just can’t seem to find it.

This is rather difficult to do from a technical prospective. The former NV Access lead developer presented some general ideas about how it might be approached, but everyone agrees it will be quite tricky no matter how it's done, and involve quite a lot of work. But if you want it, it always helps to leave a comment on the feature request, so that devs know it's of higher than average interest. You can do that here: https://github.com/nvaccess/nvda/issues/872 at the moment NVDA is just reading out every line number and I’m sure there’s a solution somewhere in one of the menus but I just can’t seem to find it.This may be Document preferences, line numbers. NVDA+Ctrl+D, Alt+N, on a U.S. desktop keyboard. Luke |

No, it does not, put in a request on GitHub as if the issue does not exist there, it doesn’t exist. Actually, I thought there was an issue there already, I’d have to look.

Cool, I just made my comment such as it is. I doubt though we will see any progression in the issue as it has been open for so long. W

Hi, To answer the original post: check to see if "Line numbers" is checked from document formatting settings panel. Cheers, Joseph |
