Hi.

Have you tried using FN plus your arrow keys to see if 1 of them has been assigned to home and end?

Hi all.

Hacer have the keys fn+arrow keys for volume and other functions (I used a laptop Acer Aspire-es111 from 2016 to 2018).

You can use the new add-on =Numpad Nap Mode for this (https://addons.nvda-project.org/addons/numpadNavMode.en.html) or the addon NVDA Extension Global Plugin of a French developer (is an addon no official and have features similar to other addons but also add more functions to NVDA).

Hi,

I am a rather new screen reader user and not aware of presentation mode yet. Can someone please share some info about the same?

Thanks,

Hi.
My Lenovo laptop does not have home and end key either.

I have to use the fn key along with the arrow keys.
For example, fn +end is the is home, while fn +right arrow is end.

Molly, I believe you meant to type that FN+Left Arrow is the equivalent of the Home key and FN+Right arrow the equivalent of the End key.

Hello, I have the same issue. fn key works for those keys but when you try to use it with nvda it is very dificult. for example nvda + ctr + end ruquires me to press four keys wich is not conviniet at all. is there any solution to this. the addon won't work for me because I don't have numpad iether.
best regards

I can't guarantee that it will work, but have you looked at SharpKeys?  And when the developer describes this as a registry hack he means that the software he's written is doing the hacking/tweaking through a more user friendly interface.

I absolutely despise any laptop (or netbook, but I won't touch those) that does not have a full keyboard with number pad.  But SharpKeys can be very helpful in creating alternate keyboard shortcuts for four-key-press native ones.  You just need to be certain that what you're choosing isn't already used for something you do routinely.

As it happens, I have recently produced an add-on which does exactly this.

Here is the latest version, which is newer than the one on community add-ons site.

If you look at emulated keys, you may find something useful to you.

NVDA+n, p, n.
Then go down to the category: Emulated system keyboard keys.
Expand that with right arrow.
Then press alt+a to add a new emulation.
It will ask you to enter the key you want to emulate. In your case you can press the key sequence for control+end, or even nvda+control+end, whatever that four key sequence is for you.
The key you entered will become a new option in the category. Move to it if you aren't already there, then press alt+a to add a gesture for it.
You can then enter a gesture to activate that key, just like any other custom gesture mapping.

Thank you Luke,
As far as I understand, your technique require a touch screen which I don't have. However I might use braille shortcuts there if  can learn them effectively.
Best regards

No it doesn't, not at all.
My technique was all keyboard related.

Try it.

The sooner the folks at NVAccess bite the bullet and drop the use of the term "gestures" for keyboard shortcuts, or command methods, the better.

Everyone in the IT world thinks of gestures as related to touch devices and touching, but that's not what it means under NVDA.

Hi.

It does indeed work, but it requires that you are running the beta for now. It will be part of the next stable version of NVDA. I just used it to set NVDA+J as my mute key.
