Another instance of a setting being lost on upgrade; was, Oops!
Gene
I found a setting that was lost when I upgraded. It was the seting
worded Automatic focus mode for focus changes, in Browse Mode
settings.

I had this setting unchecked. The default is checked. After upgrading, the setting was checked. I don't recall having settings change after upgrading in my case before. This occurrence in a setting that may not have been discussed before, raises the question as to whether the bug affects specific settings or is random and can cause any setting to be lost. I noticed that after updating to the latest NVDA 2023.1.0 that the automatically start NVDA when logged on was unchecked! When I turned on my computer, NVDA just didn't seem to do anything so I used the hotkey and it came on so I know all is good there but then I found that box unchecked so it's fixed now, but why did it get unchecked anyhow? All my other settings seem to be fine though. TTS voice rate and speed etc haven't changed at all. |

No, this option is disabled by default at least in the last releases. If you have updated from 2022.4, the most probable thing is that you have modified this option by mistake just before updating, e.g. pressing NVDA+8. Note that there is a known issue with the options "Start automatically NVDA after log-in" being modified sometimes while updating; technically, this option is managed differently as the other ones. For any other option possibly modified When updating, it's an unrelated issue. Cheers, Cyrille On Sat, Apr 1, 2023 at 12:39 AM, Gene wrote: I found a setting that was lost when I upgraded. I've also had the issue where the automatically start NVDA when logged on was unchecked after an update. Shawn Klein On 4/1/2023 9:16 AM, Cyrille via
