Hi NVDA has a new update however extended winamp, remote support and team talk are not compattable will these be updated and how soon. Especially extended winamp which I hae to use often for a radio show.  Am going to install update anyway. There seems to be a problem with winamp.  Reading titles within a playlist.

Hi,

Remote has been updated:

https://github.com/NVDARemote/NVDARemote/releases/download/v2.6/remote-2.6.nvda-addon

For Extended Winamp and TeamTalk, I don't know.

If you create a portable copy from the currently installed version before you update it and tell it to preserve everything, I don't recall the wording in the create portable dialog, you will be able to run the portable version and all the add-ons you currently use will be in that copy and will run.

Hi Ken,

if you use Add-on Updater and change the update channel to the Spanish community, you will get new versions of TeamTalk and NVDA Remote. Links for those were given in previous messages though.

Extended Winamp, no idea about that one.

It may or may not be enough to just edit the manifest.ini file, but I don't know if it works and who's maintaining the add-on.

I haven't used Extended Winamp for a while now.

Nermin

I know that Codefactory does not have an update compatible with latest N V D A, but I haven't been able to check for the update for emoticons yet. Is there an update for that addon? I can use the Microsoft voices for now, but I forgot to check for the emoticons update before I updated N V D A.
Thanks,
Nance

The Spanish community has updates to lots of addons that the main site doesn't have yet, so it's worth trying. No update for extended Winamp though, so I'm holding off updating for a while.

I've posted these in the past, but here are the Download Sources for Most Add-Ons (some home-grown ones will appear in neither location):

NVDA Community Add-Ons Site

NVDA Add-Ons Directory (hosted by the Spanish-Speaking NVDA Community Association)

Tutorial for Editing an NVDA Add-On Manifest File as a Temporary Workaround – Admin Notice

As was noted earlier by Nermin, Add-On updater now allows you to point it to different sources for add-ons.

The NVDA Add-Ons directory indicates that the Extended Winamp add-on was last tested for NVDA 2022.1, so it would be necessary for someone to try a manifest tweak to see if that would allow it to run with 2023.1 for the time being.

Well, editing the manifest.ini file did it! It does install and run now. Still can't read total time for a track, but everything else is working fine!

Just for the heck of it, I edited the manifest.ini and I have my cCodeFactory voices again.  Guess that doesn’t work with everything, but, I had a backup if needed.

I guess they’ll come up with one eventually.

Cheers!

Hi Group,

As far as the alternative sites for updates of add-ons, I see several Asian choices. If I choose to check for add-ons on those sites, will I get add-ons only in Asian languages?  That wouldn't work well with my English US language package and I don't speak a word of Chinese.

I think speaking the main screen stuff in winamp works, but there are issues with playlist on the current version. I don't use it for more than playing files, so am not that bothered. I do think if possible somebody might like to look at this one, for others sake. Brian

From memory, I think it very much depends on the add on. If it has been through some sort of translation process, then we would hope it has other languages, but if its a quick and dirty add on for that site, anything is possible. Of course you are on your own with unofficial add ons as security could be an issue.
