Code or Tiflotecnia part of the new NVDA store?
Gerardo Corripio
With the implementation of the NVDA store within the NVDA updater, will we have the possibility someday to have updates in this manner, for Tiflotecnia or Code Factory, to ensure that we’ll always be up-to-date, so that when an annual NVDA update comes along, we’ll know that at least these wo Addons will be updated and ready to work with the most current NVDA version?

It seems that NVDA store will not accept paid add-ons... I am waiting this period to pass to ask NVAccess what is the final position... Best regards, Rui Fontes Tiflotecnia, Lda. Erm, if its a store, surely this suggests that you are selling things. No reason why an intermediary page cannot explain current cost and what you get.

After all many anti virus and cleaner programs use this kind of approach to make a free version and a paid version available. Brian -- bglists@... I am not an employee of NVAccess and cannot find again where this topic was raised by NVAccess. However, my understanding was that the store would allow to download freely add-ons, i.e. no pay mechanism included in the store as done when you buy apps on Google PlayStore or AppleStore. But if your TTS add-on is freely downloadable and the licence/activation is bought out of the store, I think that there is no problem. Of course, ask confirmation to NVAccess. Store can be also used for free stuff. I do. For example I have offered just free stuff when I used to have digital services. So store seems right tro me.

A data store or an add-on store can easily be taken to mean, "a place where a supply of something is kept until it is needed." I would imagine that NVAccess will probably shy away from listing commercial add-ons simply because they don't want to play middle man for processing payments. There are also plenty of commercial entities that do not wish to participate in the stores (including the Microsoft Store) that are out there because they want to maintain end-to-end control of distribution of their products. I can't say for certain that NVAccess will not list paid add-ons, but my gut seriously doubts it. -- Brian - Virginia, USA - Windows 11 Pro, 64-Bit, Version 22H2, Build 22621; Office 2016, Version 16.0.15726.20188, 32-bit It is much easier to be critical than to be correct. ~ Benjamin Disraeli, 1804-1881 |

Hi, At least Vocalizer series distributed by Tiflotecnia are recorded in add-on store and on community add-ons website but we only provide download links for drivers, not the actual mechanism for purchasing that speech synthesizer. The consequence of this being that tools such as Add-on Updater will be able to update Vocalizer drivers. I imagine a similar arrangement could be offered for Code Factory, Acapela, and others, but it is up to add-on authors and distributors to give NV Access and the community consent (for Vocalizer series listed on community add-ons website, the add-ons community did receive consent from Tiflotecnia to post links to download drivers). If all I want are the expressive voices, do I need both of the drivers I saw on the community add ons page? Or do I still need both drivers?
