config gmail to work with mail client
To all listers
Does anyone know how to make changes on gmail to use with mail client?
I know what settings must be applied, but it didn't work in basic html view, and in standard view, I don't know how to activate the settings.
Any help would be appreciated

The only thing you need to do is to set either IMAP and/or POP access on. IMAP is preferable.
There is a link on the Basic HTML page, "Settings", which you need to activate. Once that's done the settings page is up and there is a link, "Forwarding and POP/IMAP" that you need to activate. On that page are radio buttons for POP that are Enable for all mail, Enable POP only for mail that arrives from now on, and Disable. For IMAP there is only an Enable or Disable Radio button.
If you enable whichever you prefer and save the page you can then configure an e-mail client program to access Gmail via IMAP or POP. There are also links on that page that read, "Configuration instructions", one under the POP choices and another under the IMAP choices that give you step-by-step instructions from Google's help pages on configuring popular e-mail clients for IMAP or POP access.
Under basic html view, if I go to settings, forwarding and pop/imap, then under there I have turned on pop access - it's now showing radio buttons to change the option relating to received dates, or turning it off, but, know you do then need to use non-default port numbers, SSL encryption, etc.?toggle quoted messageShow quoted text
