Digest message in foreign language

K0LNY

Hi All,
Has this happened to anyone else here?
My NVDA digest message is in some foreign language.
None of my other groups.io messages are as such.
I don't know when it started.
If anyone has a solution, you should write me off-list, or I won't be able
to read it.
Thanks.

Glenn

While this certainly appears to be an isolated incident, it's not singular, either.

For those who want to see a topic on a technician's forum I'm a member of about something similar, see: Weird problem of the day - Chinese edition

Note:  Technibble is a site dedicated to computer repair professionals, and while most of it is open to anyone to read, you can't join unless you do computer repair or something closely related professionally.

It used to be understood that if you published and profited from a mass media platform you should also be responsible for its content. That idea is nowadays considered quaintly archaic. There is no real accountability, and almost limitless ability to post any kind of ridiculous and scurrilous nonsense. God help us.

If anyone else starts experiencing this, please post the following:

1. The version (plain text versus HTML-formatted) digest you have chosen to receive.

2. The exact version information for the e-mail client, or the name of the webmail client, in which this occurs.

If this becomes even kinda sorta widespread something may need to be reported to Groups.io support, and they'll need the above noted data.

Hi Group,
I got another digest, and it was in English.
Must have been a glitch with Groups.IO.
Maybe the Chinese are hacking Groups.IO.
LOL

It may have been an error.  However, as I wrote you privately, turning off automatic language switching will solve the problem.  However, to see if the problem continues, perhaps you don't want to do that.  You can, however, turn automatic language switching off if you need to, then when you are finished looking at the digest, use NVDA control r to restore NVDA to the configuration before you change that or anything else.  That is the most convenient way to get everything back just as it was with one command.
