File Explorer change under windows 11 .

Faithville

I updated to windows 11, and I have found that my setting where i go directly to this pc has changed, I no longer can press d for downloads, m for music and the like, all I see is the two drives I ahve and the dvd drive, is there a way to get this back to the way it was on windows 10?

I can't imagine what would have triggered this change, but check the View Ribbon, Navigation Pane and make sure the checks for Show All Folders and Show Libraries are both checked.

ALT + V, N and then down arrow through the various check options to see whether the two noted above are checked.  If they aren't, then check them and see whether that fixes your issue.  If they are, then please report back.

Hi,

Likely cause: Windows 11 Version 22H2 (2022 Update/build 22621). You can get most of the folders back if you tell File Explorer to open Home (File Explorer Options, first combo box). Note that in Home view, drives will not show up - they need to be pinned.

Cheers,

Joseph

Ok, how do you pin the drives in the home section?

Yes, this pc is in the settings, you can add it there, or shift tab to the tree view and access it there. My pins got reset as well but that's ok.

I thought those were under settings, not in the view menu. I remember something about personalization and themes. Then you can check or uncheck what you don’t want to see.

Right click the drive and click pin to access. You can also add folders to a library, I’ve begun playing with that as well.

Well, I'm absolutely certain they are there under the View Menu in File Explorer.  That certainly doesn't mean that this is the only place these settings may exist.  We all know that for virtually anything Microsoft gives multiple ways of getting to the desired end.

Hi,

you will have to tweak the registry to do this.
