How to keep Nvda settings consistent with multiple user profiles
Tom Moore
Morning all,
What is the best way to provide a common user experience with Nvda on a machine that has multiple userprofiles? Starting off I could set my default settings in the public profile that will be copied when the the user firsts logs in, but over time the default settings might be changed from time to time and moving forward the user profile would be out of date. Thanks for any suggestions on this topic. Tom |

Tom,
I'm not quite sure that you could do this. It's a fairly simple matter to set up the same user profile for different users "at time of first use," but after that trying to maintain something becomes very complicated. Each user can (and usually does, to some extent, add-ons in particular but settings, too) tweak their own profile, and I can't think of a reliable and safe way to easily insert just those changes you may have made to "the common profile" after the fact to individual profiles that have been tweaked. |

Well would everyone have a user profile with their settings like this or not.

Every user would have their own I guess. The only thing I would suggest is to have everyone have a portable version and do whatever but it depends. For example, on my personal system I have my version with my settings and my addons. On all systems I service, I have my version with my settings but only the addons and such I absolutely need for my job. So for example it depends on what I have what loaded. On most systems remote, its my version, my settings, the updater and win10apps. On some I use every day that includes vlc and goldwave. However it depends, the emotes and symbols are included on all but really the remote systems are rarely updated more than once a year if not 2 because I don't run them half the time. The house systems and the system I use for my use close to me run more often. If this is a server environment, I suspect the commen settings may not change. It would depend on the addons, so it would depend on what addons you would load. Right now I'd say, it would depend on the addons on system, vlc is quite commen the report symbons and emoticons, a must, win10 apps and addon updater. The rest depends. I will describe the setup that I have. One user on my machine is for my general activities and another is for ham radio related activities. I use a second profile so that I can keep my browser logged into sites like groups.io and others with my primary Gmail account and everything I do ham radio related in its own environment with different e-mail, address book and other web site settings. My biggest question at this point is how would I handle a pay for add-on such as the Code Factory voice Eloquence add-on since this seems to be a pay per use add-on. How would it be handled with multiple user profiles on the same machine? Is there a way to install an Eloquence add-on system wide for use with multiple local accounts? Thanks, Tom On 11/14/2022 2:16 PM, Shaun Everiss wrote:
