ibm via voice speech question
Michael Micallef at FITA
Dear nvda users,
Today I just downloaded the IBMTTS-v23.02.1.nvda-addon from the nvda add-ons page. But when I tried to install it with the nvda v2023.4 it said that the ibm via voice it will not be listed in the list os synthesizers until I specify the ibm via voice directory files. How I can do that? Some step by step how to do it are appreciate or at least from where I can get the necessary information.
Thank you
Regards,

Was it not that the paid for ones are working but the older one may not be, but there might be a work around or something? Brian -- bglists@... IBM viavoice outloud tts is not supported because it is an old sapi4 synthesizer. If you like it but cannot pay for it, why not use the new espeak variants. here is a link to some new espeak voice variants that will make espeak ng sound similar to decTalk or eloquence along with a list of my own personal espeak ng settings below. .
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1QkUSaiblMKtvAVrLTLF2lDXMSU5jSY0d/view?usp=sharing to use the variants, due to a bug in espeak languages disappearing, go into: C:\Program Files (x86)\NVDA\synthDrivers\espeak-ng-data\voices\!v Now hit control a, delete, and delete everything in there, it will ask if you want to continue, hit the continue button to complete the deletion. and now paste all of the variants into that folder with control v. Now, here are my espeak ng settings. voice, american english. variant: glenn. rate, 10. rate boost on. pitch 50 inflection 20. volume 100. |

You repeatedly claim that variants and your settings will make
E-Speak sound like Eloquence or Dectalk, That simply isn't true.
I have no objection to such variants and settings being suggested
because you think they make E-Speak sound better, and some people
may want to use them, but nothing will make e-speak sound like
Dectalk or Eloquence unless E-Speak were completely redesigned.

I don't like E-Speak but that wasn't what I was discussing. I'm saying that people may want to try these variants and settings to see if they like E-Speak more when used in these ways, but it doesn't sound more like Dectalk or Eloquence. Gene On 3/31/2023 10:03 AM, Joshua

like jaws. You can do some crazy things with E-speak when you play around with the pitch and inflexion. I have gotten my E-speak to sound like a robot which was kind of cool. On 3/31/23, Gene <gsasner@...> wrote:
