My 2022.4 would say such as "copyed," with control-c and also how many items were highlighted. 2023rc2, doesn't, would that be the action of an add-on which I have in 2022.4, or should 2023rc2 say "copyed," and how many items are selected for copying from a given directory, etc.

Yes, it should be NVDAExtensionGlobalPlugin add-on.

but I have that installed, so it is definitely not doing what it use to do, e.g. announce how many selected, or "copy or cut to clipboard," etc.
