Hi all,

I use NVDA 30 percent more, because of these add ons.

Here are my favorite add ons, and I explain why!

Here is the list!

NVDA add ons I love the most and why.

I want to share with all of you, which add ons really impress me the most,
and the ones I am getting the most use out of by using them.

Number One:

Clip Contents Designer; Status: running; Version: 3.5; Author: Noelia Ruiz
Martínez <nrm1977@...>

I very often want to copy some material, and append more material to the
clipboard. I do this a lot to edit and create tutorials.

I love this add on, and it helps me a lot. Thank you!

Number two:

Clipspeak; Status: running; Version: 1.0; Author: Damien Sykes-Lindley
<damien@...> 2 of 17

It gives me such peace of mind to hear what I have on the clip board, before

I paste it somewhere. Thank you!

Number three:

Enhanced Aria; Status: running; Version: 1.3-dev; Author: Jose Manuel
Delicado <jmdaweb@...>

I can now use two great TV web sites to stream movies and TV shows, because

this add on lets me access the ARIA That I need to enjoy these streaming web

sites. Thank you!

Number four:

Golden Cursor moves the mouse with the keyboard; Status: running; Version:
1.0-dev; Author: Salah Atair <atair1978@...>, Wafeeq Taher 5 of 17

I want all to know how much I use this add on. Here is an example.

My wife will move the mouse pointer to a place that I cannot find. I can
then press a command to hear what pixel position the mouse pointer is on. I

can save that pixel position, and my wife never has to put the mouse pointer

there again. I just press a command, and it brings up all saved mouse
pointer positions that I have saved. I label my saved pixel positions, like

fast forward in Groove, for example. I can open the list of saved pixel
positions, and arrow to that Groove button, and press enter, and the actual

mouse pointer goes right there.

Sometimes, you cannot get the mouse pointer to route to where the review
cursor is located, and with one time of sighted assistance, you can save the

pixel position where the sighted person put the mouse pointer, and you can
go back there yourself from then on. Thank you very much, and I pray you
keep developing and supporting this add on!

Number five:

Lambda math editor addon; Status: running; Version: 1.1.8-dev; Author:
Alberto Zanella <lapostadialberto@...> 6 of 17

This add on, has allowed me to tutor highr math concepts on my on line math

tutoring business to sighted people.

I am getting access to more hier math topics, and I can use this add on to
read the other person's work when they send it back to me. Thank you!

Number six:

Place markers; Status: running; Version: 8.1-dev; Author: Noelia
<nrm1977@...>, Chris <llajta2012@...> 7 of 17

This add on has saved me so much time every day. Many times a day, I put a
place marker somewhere that I will return to later. This is the place marker

feature in JAWS. Thank you! This saves me a lot of time.

Number Seven

I absolutely love this add on. Many times, I am in a program when I want to

here the version of the application. I really missed doing thiswith JAWS.
Now, I can use this feature with NVDA. Thank you!

Number Eight:

Speak Passwords; Status: running; Version: 1.0; Author: Tyler Spivey
<tspivey@...> 10 of 17

hearing * for every character. Thank you!

Number Nine:

Author: [u'Tyler Spivey', u'James Scholes'] 11 of 17

I love this add on. I am using it as I type this article. I down arrow
through my add ons, and I just press F12 to paste what NVDA said to the clip

board. Again, this is the speach history in JAWS. These add ons are allowing

us to use NVDA and get these JAWS features. Thank you!

Number Ten:

Insert Symbols; Status: running; Version: 1.0; Author: Erion
<rob.mail@...> 12 of 17

I can insert hundreds of symbols in a document, Facebook post, or email,
that I never had to choose from with JAWS. There are so many symbols that
you can choose from, I have not heard of many of them. I absolutely love
this add on! Thank you!

Number Eleven:

<ruiandrebatista@...> and NVDA Addon Team 13 of 17

This add on, speeds up tasks that I often do. It is not object navigation,
but I can get access to text and more on the screen so quickly with this add

on! Thank you!

VLC Media Player; Status: running; Version: 1.2; Author: Javi Dominguez
<fjavids@...> 14 of 17

I love using VLC Media Player. This add on, allows me to tab and hear many
of the controls on the screen, and I have access to the repeat and shuffle
toggles. Thank you!

Weather Plus; Status: running; Version: 4.4 15.06.2017; Author: Adriano
Barbieri <adrianobarb@...>. 15 of 17

I really love this weather add on. I use it constantly. My wife asks me
about the weather. and I simply press NVDA+Shift+W and get the forcast. What

I like most, is that it is copied to the clipboard, and I can paste the
entire forecast into a text document like Note Pad.

I love this add on, because I have many cities that I can find out the
weather in. Thank you so much!

Number Twelve

Windows 10 App Essentials; Status: running; Version: 20170705-dev; Author:
Joseph Lee <joseph.lee22590@...>, Derek Riemer

I use the Windows 10 calculator all of the time. I do scientific
calculations with it many times a day. This add on has really helped me a
lot. Thank You!

This is it!

The summary, is that many features of JAWS are in these add ons. NVDA is
much more powerful with these add ons, and I appreciate all of your time and

work to make these add ons, and do all that you do for the NVDA community. I

now use NVDA 90 percent of the time, because of these add ons. They have
really made a difference, and I want you all to know!

Well I am happy I pulled out of jaws when I did.

I do keep a coppy of old dolphin screen reader round for a few things which use the virtual nav mode a bit better.

However that and their easy reader app is just about all I keep running these days.

Its got to the point that when I go to win10 And maybe every 5 or so years I will just update the apps, easyreader is only 100 dollars for full version so the update maybe less than that.

the dolphin stuff is 1k and thats it.

Just about everything else uses mainstream tech.

abbyy handles ocr.

I have a semi accessible to a point video conversion system, an old now but functional media player, java, a lot of codecs and tools like ccleaner, 7zip, goldwave and cdbxp.

Before that I invested in expensive or cracked cd writers, antivirus programs and actual vi related scanning solutions.

What probably saved me from a life of jaws was that I quit the system quite quickly.

When I left uni with no prospect of jobs I eventually went to 7, and 99.9% of all that software I was funded just went out the window.

I couldn't afford k1000, I stopped using a scanner for a while.

With nvda I couldn't really afford jaws so yeah, I got out on my own.

If I stayed in work I'd still be shelling out for jaws now.

The whole point of the vlc add-on is to make vlc as accessible as it can be. There's nothing wrong with plugins when they serve a useful purpose (which nearly all of them do). Vlc is pretty usable without the plugin, but the plugin does add access to a few controls that are otherwise unreachable or unlabeled. I use vlc all the time, and have no issues with NVDA and the VLC plugin.

Perhaps you can't.  If you look at
you will not see either of these listed as shortcut keys in the program.  That doesn't mean that they are not available, someone may give the information, but it raises the question of whether these settings can be changed from the keyboard.

Hi guys!

I found the URL that has the say name of product and version NVDA add on.

This site is great, because there are a few older add ons on here that still work great with win10 and latest NVDA. Here is the URL:

http://jeff.tdrealms.com/NVDA.htm

It is called Jeff’s NVDA add on repository or something close to that. The page starts out something like this:

Welcome to my NVDA Add-on Repository.

This page aims to bring together all of the optional components available for the free, open source screen reader known as NVDA.

Before you can install any of the below add-ons, you must first install NVDA.

There are many add ons on there! It is kept up to date, because it says on the site that it was updated in April of this year. Joseph Lee’s Windows 10 app assentials is on there, so it is an up to date web site.

Perhaps you can't.  If you look at

you will not see either of these listed as shortcut keys in the program.  That doesn't mean that they are not available, someone may give the information, but it raises the question of whether these settings can be changed from the keyboard.

Also, you appear to be assuming the the feature is available with the add on.  the description of the program doesn't say that more playback commands are available.  It only says that you can move back and forward in playback commands by tabbing and shift tabbing.  Unless you have other information, that doesn't indicate whether and what other commands may be available than in the play menu.

Perhaps you can't.  If you look at

Just open VLC, and start tabbing a lot. You will tab to them and you can press NVDA+Enter to activate many buttons on the screen without going into any menus!

I just installed the add on and there is an item called random.  This evidently is the same as shuffle.  there is another item you can cycle through loop one loop all and no loop.  I haven't played with these settings to make sure what the difference between loop all and loop one is.

Now that I know what to look for, I once again looked at the help file I sent a link to.  Since nonstandard names are used, of course, I didn't find them when I searched before.  The loop cycle is the letter l.  Random on and off is the letter r.

If you type r, you will hear that shuffle is on or off.  Since there are two repeat modes, if you type l, you will hear loop on twice as you switch and then loop off.  You are not told which loop mode is on.
Actually,, I need to correct what I said.  It may well be that I hear these announcements because the add on is installed.  You may not hear anything announced with the add on off.  I'll check.

And just as I suspectedd, you get no feedback of any kind when the add on is not being used.  Have fun needlessly inconveniencing yourself.

Just open VLC, and start tabbing a lot. You will tab to them and you can press NVDA+Enter to activate many buttons on the screen without going into any menus!

If you look at

you will not see either of these listed as shortcut keys in the program.  That doesn't mean that they are not available, someone may give the information, but it raises the question of whether these settings can be changed from the keyboard.

Okay!

That is why the VLC add on is so important then. With the add on, you can tab to all controls that people can see, as far as I know. Why do some not want to use the add on?

Also, you appear to be assuming the the feature is available with the add on.  the description of the program doesn't say that more playback commands are available.  It only says that you can move back and forward in playback commands by tabbing and shift tabbing.  Unless you have other information, that doesn't indicate whether and what other commands may be available than in the play menu.

Perhaps you can't.  If you look at

Hi Gene!

Do you know about this site! There are hundreds of add ons on here, and all I have tried still work.

You won't hear anything about where you are tabbing to without the add on.

Just open VLC, and start tabbing a lot. You will tab to them and you can press NVDA+Enter to activate many buttons on the screen without going into any menus!

Actually, regarding loop, the order seems to be loop all, loop one, and off.  My guess, without looking up information, is that loop all lets an entire playlist play, then repeats the entire playlist.  Loop one, loops whatever file or clip is being played and doesn't repeat the entire playlist, but keeps repeating the one clip you are on.  Of course, if you are not working with a playlist, but just with one file, it probably doesn't matter which option you use.

Hi,

I’d still add my caution regarding add-ons hosted on that site: take note of what you’re downloading.

Cheers,

Joseph

Just open VLC, and start tabbing a lot. You will tab to them and you can press NVDA+Enter to activate many buttons on the screen without going into any menus!

If you look at

you will not see either of these listed as shortcut keys in the program.  That doesn't mean that they are not available, someone may give the information, but it raises the question of whether these settings can be changed from the keyboard.

You are exactly right.

VLC is on another computer I do not use as much, and I forgot that is what it says. That is what loup one and two are!

Perhaps you can't.  If you look at

you will not see either of these listed as shortcut keys in the program.  That doesn't mean that they are not available, someone may give the information, but it raises the question of whether these settings can be changed from the keyboard.
