New Folder Info not announced on Remote Machine with NVDA Remote - What's wrong with this picture?

Steve Matzura

All of the NVDA installations I'm about to discuss are up to date as of this writing--both sides has 2022.4.27401 and NVDA Remote 2.5 installed.

On my systems, I can create a new folder on the Desktop with the shortcut key CTRL/Shift/N and NVDA reads the Windows prompt for the new folder name. But when I go to one of the remote systems that I help support and do the same thing, there's no spoken Windows prompt and no ability to move the cursor to even read the default folder name Windows provides in that prompt. Is the NVDA Remote add-on interfering with this, or might it be a configuration missetting on the other end?

Topic title updated to make it clear exactly what the issue is.

I also had this behavior once after updating NVDA as I forgot to restart the computer after the update.

What version of windows is the remote machine running?

This sort of thing can be sluggish as well.

I'll check it again when I next visit this person's machine remotely. It will surely have been restarted by then, and just in case it hasn't, I'll request that it be so. Thanks.

Windows 10, 22H2, build 2300-something, it's pretty current, about as current as current gets.
