NVDA error

Hello
When ever I update NVDA or one of the addons through the updater, NVDa
shuts down but fails to start again. Then when I start NVDA after
waiting for a minute or two, it starts\ but there is a small cut in
the music and I get this error.
usage: nvda.exe [-h] [-q] [-k] [-f LOGFILENAME]
[-l {10,12,15,20,30,40,50,100}] [-c CONFIGPATH]
[--lang LANGUAGE] [-m] [-s] [--disable-addons]
[--debug-logging] [--no-logging] [--no-sr-flag]
[--install | --install-silent | --create-portable |
--create-portable-silent]
[--portable-path PORTABLEPATH] [--launcher]
[--enable-start-on-logon True|False] [--copy-portable-config]
[--ease-of-access]

error: Couldn't terminate existing NVDA process, abandoning start:
Exception: [WinError 5] Access is denied.

The update is successful, but I don't get why it doesn't restart properly.

I am using the latest NVDA with the latest build of windows 11.

Consider an uninstall/reinstall of NVDA.

I'd installed from a portable coppy could that be causing it? I'd
tried to install from portable to not have to reassemble all my old
addons.

Two things:

1. Uninstalling/reinstalling NVDA does not wipe all your add-ons, just NVDA itself.  Things like your add-ons, dictionaries, etc., are kept in your own %APPDATA% folder.

2. It could be an add-on that's corrupt that's causing this, too.  Try starting NVDA with all add-ons disabled.  If you're starting from a desktop shortcut, you can edit the shortcut and add the following command line option to the Target box:  --disable-addons

Just remember to go back and remove that command line option from the Target box once you're finished testing, or else NVDA will always start with all add-ons disabled.
