Tables in Outlook 2016

Quentin,

What causes NVDA to repeatedly announce “Out of Table, Out of Table Out of table” in emails with a table structure?

Can this be stopped without turning off Table Recognition in document settings?

All the best,

Cearbhall

Hi,

I too am interested in this. The reading experience in outlook with NVDA is not great.

With HTML Emails, Say All works as expected, so you hear the whole Email, but with text Emails it doesn’t. So you only hear the first line of the Email and have to do a say all, or read it however you want.

Narrator’s reading experience with outlook, especially with Experimental Improvements for Outlook switched on is much better, and more akin to the JAWS reading experience.

I do have some hope for you though.

Create a profile just for Outlook, and turn off table recognition, then it will only be turned off in outlook.

All the best

If you try the 2021.3 Beta using UIA for Microsoft Word documents, the experience with tables should be somewhat improved.  Basically the issue is that Outlook presents emails as Word documents, which is fine, except tables in Word documents are generally treated a lot differently to tables on the web.

We are up to NVDA 2021.3 Beta 2, which you can get here: https://www.nvaccess.org/post/nvda-2021-3beta2/

Kind regards

Quentin.
