Version 23.02 of Joseph Lee's add-ons wave 2: about to let go of nine add-ons in coming weeks #addonrelease
Hi all, Version 23.02 of the following add-ons are now being offered via Add-on Updater: Enhanced Touch Gestures, Event Tracker, GoldWave, Object Location Tones, ObjPad, Office Desk, Resource Monitor, Sound Splitter, StationPlaylist. These add-ons:
IMPORTANT: the add-ons listed above are about to leave my add-on development laboratory i.e. ending maintenance. Version 23.02 will be the third to last release of these add-ons from me. As soon as NVDA 2023.1 beta 1 is released, I will release a compatibility update for my add-ons, and at least 30 days after that, I will release last versions of the add-ons listed and will declare them end of life from me. I’m sure some might ask me to keep maintaining these add-ons if no-one steps up to maintain them. However, I’m about to enter a phase in my life where I need to let go of most NVDA community work or bow out of NVDA community outright, including maintaining most add-ons (will talk about exactly what that life phase is when the time is right). Therefore, once I end maintenance for the nine add-ons listed above, there is no going back. In the meantime, enjoy the new add-on releases. Cheers, Joseph |

When you say won't install, does this mean they will not be flagged if older versions exist, or just be rejected when you try to download and install them?

I use an older version of Goldwave anyway, so thins work fine as they are. I have my reasons, but on my newer machines things will of course be different. Brian -- bglists@... Before ending support of the addons, I would request to teach the general community about addon development. I hope it would lead to someone come forward to hand over the responsibility of future development. On Fri, Feb 3, 2023 at 6:10 PM Joseph Lee <joseph.lee22590@...> wrote:

Hi, A document does exist that introduces folks to add-on development: https://github.com/nvdaaddons/DevGuide/wiki/NVDA-Add-on-Development-Guide We need to remember that add-on development is not for everyone. It is fine to give an overview here, but for a more specialized discussion around add-on development, a dedicated forum such as add-ons list is better suited for it. Cheers, Joseph |
